As I reflect on this day 11 years ago (9-11-01)…I remember exactly where I was and who I was with… We were having our monthly ODN (Organizational Development Network) meeting in the conference room at Nebraska Furniture Mart where we met each month… My daughter (Mandi) was working with me at the time and I invited her to join me on that day. At the end of the meeting, as people were leaving, employees of Nebraska Furniture Mart came into the conference room to turn on the Television…they had heard the news! It was in that moment that the horror was revealed to all of us in real time… WHEW…it just didn’t seem real… Could this really be happening???
Mandi and I spent the rest of the day together staying tuned in to all that was unfolding… It brings tears to my eyes as I remember those moments… Then…as the heros emerged and the story kept playing out, the heart-felt love, honor, and courage was demonstrated by people all over the world from many walks of life…again and again and again… That is the part that brings happy tears from my heart through my eyes and into the hearts of those who were affected by this 911 tragedy… The World Came Together on that day…
Here is the interesting part of my 911 story…
1. The speaker that ‘ODN meeting day’ was speaking to us about Defining Moments and sharing several moments in time that changed our country and the world in significant ways… WOW…talk about Timing for that Topic…AMAZING!
2. That was the only ODN meeting Mandi ever attended with me. It was a gift that we were together to experience this Defining Moment with each other and spend the day in reflection and sending love to those who were so deeply affected by it…
3. That night I went to my Yoga Class and we did a beautiful tribute to everyone in the midst of the tragedy. And…as I sat in silence a visual image came into view. There was a circle of light around the no longer existent towers…and I felt the energy of those who had passed… They were at peace… My heart felt calm…
So…on this day 11 years later…I am sending Much Love and Many Blessings to Everyone who lost so much during that day and beyond… And…to ALL the Heros who showed up in multiple ways in support, encouragement, and love…THANK YOU SO MUCH!
And..wouldn’t it be COOL if we could all come together in new ways to support, enourage, and love each other in every moment...with no need for a disaster to bring it out of us… Now that is an Awesome View!!! A beautiful focus on this special day…September 11, 2012… (11 Year Later…)
